Car
As per the above, it’s a nice quick journey into Benicassim from Valencia. You just pick up further down the E-15 than you would do if you were visiting from Barcelona, and continue in a straight line until you hit the sign posts for Beni! Easy.  Unless you’ve got a really weak bladder you probably won’t even need to stop off.  Check out Expedia to compare prices on popular car hire outlets at Valencia airport.

Train
The train from Valencia will take you about an hour. The trains drops you virtually right outside the festival site – be warned it’s still a bit of a walk to where you’ll actually pitch your tent but entirely doable – say about 500 metres or so.  Check prices for trains from Valencia to Beni.

Festival Bus
The organisers usually arrange festival buses from Valencia airport, we’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear details of the arrangements for 2010.

Car
Barcelona is about 280km from Benicassim, similar to the drive from Alicante this works out at a little over 2.5 hours (when driving at a sensible speed). I’ve personally never done this drive so would appreciate any comments/suggestions from any of you that have.  It does look like a simple drive, with the majority of the route following the E-15 in a straight line from Barca. It also looks like there may be some interesting places to stop off and sample, for example the historic city of Tarragona is within an hour of Barcelona (I’m guessing this place is much more picturesque than Benidorm – not that Benidorm is all bad!).  Compare prices on car hire from Barcelona airport here.

Train
In a similar vein to Alicante the airport in Barcelona is about 10km from the city centre and as such within easy reach of the city’s main train station. As a guide one way tickets between Alicante and Benicassim in 2009 cost about 30EUR (standard class) or 45EUR (first class), we’d expect tickets to cost about the same from Barcelona – it’s a similar length journey. I had to buy a first class ticket as the standards had sold out by the time I got around to buying so be warned!  View train prices for Barca to Beni.

Car
The most convenient way to get to Benicassim from Alicante is to hire a car.  It’s a 273km drive, or approx 2.5 hours.  The drive is relatively easy, the hardest bit being getting out of Alicante airport and onto the main road, after that it’s basically one long motorway until you get to the sign-posts for Benicassim.  You arrive in the city centre within 10 minutes of leaving the motorway so it’s dead easy.  Alicante airport has plenty of car hire options to choose from, we went with Hertz last time we were there, Citeroen Berlingo, 5 guys, no problemo.  By the way if you’re planning on making a bit of a road trip out of the journey to Benicassim then you could always stop of in Benidorm for a bit of spanish, or should that be cockney culture (or not as the case may be), whether you decide to stop off or not then the drive is a pleasant one with plenty of service station en route, about half of the drive follows directly alongside the coast so you can soak in the fresh sea breeze (assuming you’ve got the windows down or are driving a convertible).  Check and compare car hire prices from Alicante airport to Benicassim here.

Train

Buses and private transfers

If you’re travelling in a group of 3 or less then it might be more economical to get to Benicassim by bus or coach.

Walk
Are you mad? It’s 273km away, if you’re walking then you’re on your own.  However, walking home after the festival could be a way to burn off all that booze, that is if you haven’t danced it off already!
