FIB is not be the only major summer event in Benicàssim.  Rototom Sunsplash, which is the largest reggae festival in Europe, has confirmed that it wishes to take root in the town for at least 5 years.

Held in Benicassim, near Barcelona, Benicassim mixes a fantastic blend of music with superb weather. If your idea of festival fun is being knee deep in mud, then this gig ain’t for you.

This year’s bill is already shaping up to be a cracker. Mumford & Sons, The Strokes, Primal Scream, Arcade Fire and LOADS more have been confirmed. Artists seem as keen as ever to perform at Benicassim in 2011.

The latest batch of new additions to the event includes Big Audio Dynamite. Often referred to as ‘what Mick Jones did after The Clash’ the band are great to watch, check out the clip below.

BAD (Big Audio Dynamite) only reformed earlier this year, widely known for merging the sounds of reggae and hip hop they really have been responsible for some groundbreaking material. They’re sure to whip the Benicassim crowd into a frenzy at this year’s festival.

Layabouts have been confirmed, along with The Go! Team, Paolo Nutini and Brandon Flowers. The line-up also contains some breaking acts with Dorian set to perform.

There’s still a lot more to be added to this line-up but as you can see it’s already shaping up to be one FAT FESTIVAL. If you’re still not convinced then don’t forget Benicassim has already confirmed appearances from Sheffield indie giants Arctic Monkeys! Grab your tickets today.

These guys join the already fantastic line-up which include Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes et al.

The world renowened 5-piece from Manchester, Elbow, lead by singer and writer Guy Garvey had their very first album released in 2001 (Asleep In The Black).  The band are absolutely fantastic live and have a mixture of delicate pop songs to get the crowd going.  They’re due to bring out a new album early in 2011 so FIBBERS are going to be treated to some of their fantastic new material in a scorching live environment.

Zach Condon and his band, Beirut are already famed for their two brow-beating albums and several EP’s.  They’re from Albuquerque in the US and combine eastern European influence with school pop.

The line-up wouldn’t be complete with a bit more British influence and this is where Friendly Fires step up to the mark. Consisting of and poppy dancey mix, their debut album, ‘Friendly Fires’ (2008) boosted them to fame as one of the bands who aren’t afraid to mix up the musical styles slightly.

Tinie Tempah is a 22 year old Nigerian MC based in London, he’s sure to be a bouncing addition to the line-up with hits such as ‘Pass Out’, ‘Written in the Stars’ among the first hits with some of his more recent stuff like ‘Frisky’ and ‘Disc-Overy’.

From January 15th – or when current allocation is sold out – price for 4 day tickets will go from £145 to £160.  So get your tickets quickly and grab a bargain.

Here at Benicassim.org.uk we always see a slight peak in ticket sales at this time of year, possibly because people are starting to feel the bite of the great British winter and start looking toward next year’s festival plans.

The line-up for Benicassim 2011 is still to be annouced but we’re sure it’ll be fantastic. “The Festival is worth going to whatever the line-up” comments Pete from Wakefield, “we’ve been to the festival for the last 4 years now, it’s more like a summer holiday than a festival, soaking up some rays during the day followed up by the arena gates opening and an evening of partying hard”. This reflects the behaviour of most festival goers, with the vast majority heading down to enjoy Benicassim’s golden sand beach during the day. Tickets are on sale now at a specially reduced price.

Popular Year Round

Although interest in the town hits an all time high during July each year when the festival carnival arrives in town and kicks-off 4 days of music, sun and partying, Benicassim is popular year round with tourists from all over Europe. The town’s beach is amongst the cleanest in Spain and the town has a plethora of eateries and bars.  It’s the perfect destination for a romantic getaway or a break away from it all with your friends and family.

Flights
